Zero to JourneymanThe licensed path into the trades
Real people. Verified licenses.

Talk to a real journeyman

Reading about union vs open shop is one thing. Thirty minutes with someone who lives it answers what no article can. We connect you with working journeymen whose licenses we check against the state licensing board’s own public lookup — not influencers selling a course.

Put me on the list
Straight talk

This is brand new, so the first calls are matched by hand. Leave your email below and we pair you with a verified journeyman in your state or trade. You pay nothing to join the list — a call only costs money once it’s actually booked, and the journeyman sets the price.

How it works

Three steps, no course, no upsell

  1. 1
Tell us what you want to figure out

Union vs open shop, getting into an apprenticeship, first-year reality, pay, going independent — whatever you’d rather ask a person.

  2. 2
    We verify the journeyman

Every mentor’s license number is checked against their state licensing board’s public lookup before they can take a call. No license, no profile.

  3. 3
    Book a call, straight answers

A 30-minute video call at a time that works. The journeyman sets their own price and keeps most of it — you pay only when the call is booked.

I want a call

Get on the list and we’ll email you when there’s a verified journeyman who fits your question. No charge to join.

I’m a licensed journeyman

Get paid to give the straight answers you wish someone had given you. No content to make, nothing to sell — you set your price, open a few time slots, and take calls when it suits you.

We check your license against your state board’s public lookup — the same sources our roadmaps cite. We never ask for, or store, a copy of your ID.

Before you ask

Common questions

Is this a course or a coaching program?

No. It’s a single 30-minute call with a working, license-verified journeyman. No curriculum, no subscription, no upsell — the roadmaps on this site stay free either way.

How do you verify journeymen?

Every mentor gives us their license number, and we check it against their state licensing board’s public license lookup — the same official sources every roadmap on this site cites. We don’t collect copies of anyone’s ID.

What does a call cost?

The journeyman sets their own price and it’s shown before you book. Joining the list is free, and you’re never charged until a call is actually scheduled.

Why a call instead of just reading the roadmap?

The roadmaps cover the rules — hours, exams, fees, sourced to the state board. A call covers the lived part: what the local actually looks for in interviews, what year one really pays after the deductions, whether the union hall or the open-shop contractor is hiring in your town. That’s knowledge only a person has.
